FIGO joins The Global HPV Consortium to quicken the pace of HPV prevention and cervical cancer elimination

FIGO is delighted to officially join The Global HPV Consortium housed at the Sabin Vaccine Institute, a public and private sector collaboration dedicated to eliminating cervical cancer through prevention, screening and treatment.
Our partners in the consortium include some of the most significant actors in this work globally. We look forward to contributing with our clinical knowledge, technical expertise and advocacy work to amplify the consortium goals, reach and impact through the FIGO network.
“At FIGO we know that the fastest path to lasting improvements in women’s health come when we collaborate, so I’m delighted that FIGO has joined the Global HPV movement to eliminate cervical cancer - a strategic priority for FIGO in our journey to 2030. This relationship joins our portfolio of alliances towards the 90-70-90 goals, including our close partnerships with WHO and our member societies, especially in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.”
Frances Longley, FIGO CEO
“Gynaecologists and obstetricians play a central role in women’s health. They render not only screening and treatment services but are in the best position to advise on vaccination. The Global HPV Consortium and FIGO together will build networks and forge partnerships to raise awareness of cervical cancer through building knowledge and skills of service providers and professionals.”
Anuradha Gupta, President of Global Immunization, Sabin Vaccine Institute
Eliminating cervical cancer is possible, but we must all come together to achieve our goal. FIGO and our 139 national member societies have a unique role to play in disseminating evidence-based clinical guidance, sharing best practices and leading advocacy strategies to eradicate cervical cancer globally.
