Recognising female obstetricians and gynaecologists

Sixteen exceptional female healthcare professionals have received the FIGO Women’s Awards 2023 in recognition for their outstanding work and commitment.

This prestigious award honours women – predominantly from low and middle-income countries – who have made a special contribution internationally or nationally to promote the development of science and scientific research in the fields of gynaecology and obstetrics. extraordinary work of female colleagues who throughout their careers have promoted better health care for women, mothers and their children. 

The winners of the FIGO Women’s Awards 2023 are:

  • Dr Nadia Al Sawalhi, UAE
  • Dr Maria Fernanda Escobar Vidarte, Colombia

The awards were announced during the First Session of the FIGO General Assembly, which took place on Tuesday 10 October 2023 (14.30–17.30 CEST) in Paris, alongside the XXIV FIGO World Congress at the Paris Convention Centre in Paris, France.
