California clinic set up for heart patients in menopause

A specialised clinic for women at risk for heart disease who are also experiencing menopause symptoms has been established in Los Angeles, US.

The Advanced Preventive Women's Clinic at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute recently opened, offering cardiac risk assessments designed specifically for women who are in menopause.

It is also providing state-of-the-art screenings for menopausal patients, plus personalised medicine therapies and counselling services.

Dr Chrisandra Shufelt, assistant director of the Cedars-Sinai Women's Heart Center, says the clinic is designed for women who are at higher risk for heart disease and who are seeking to treat their menopause symptoms while simultaneously taking steps to prevent heart problems.

She adds: "Menopause is a time to assess your heart health so that the next chapter of your life can be as productive as your youth."

Last month, Reuters Health reported that women going through the menopause can relieve the symptoms by participating in yoga exercise.ADNFCR-2094-ID-19181394-ADNFCR
